The 2018 Greater Brandon Meals on Wheels Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Elena LaRussa from First Presbyterian Church of Brandon at the 42nd Annual Luncheon today. Nominated by her peers, Elena was selected from many outstanding volunteers representing the member churches who were also recognized for their service to the community. This special award was presented by Guy Futral, President of Greater Brandon MOW at the Luncheon held at First Baptist Church of Dover on April 5, 2018. Looking on is Board Member and Luncheon Coordinator, Barbara Brooks. Two hundred volunteers attended today’s Luncheon.
Brandon Meals on Wheels History
The Brandon Area Meals on Wheels program started 42 years ago through a cooperative effort of Limona Village Chapel United Methodist Church and St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church. The program has grown to include 19 area churches and currently prepares, serves and delivers approximately 250 hot meals per day from Monday through Friday in the Brandon community.
